Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)

Job Summary:

Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Lead Medical Laboratory Technician, the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible for maintaining standards set by regulatory agencies. The MLT performs work of moderate to high complexity in the areas of chemistry, microbiology, blood bank, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and molecular pathology. The Medical Laboratory Technician maintains records of performance and is qualified to perform procedures and interpret results, including performing phlebotomy, on all the following age classifications; neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric. The MLT is responsible for completing all duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: Education: Associate Degree in Medical Technology or completion of a Medical Technology Program or military med lab training course required. On or before 02/28/1992 qualified or could have qualified as a technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 laboratory regulations published March 14, 1990 (44FR 9538). Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Science, Technology or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of three (3) months documented Laboratory training and experience required. Required Licensure/Certification(s): Medical Laboratory Technician Registration preferred. Current verification in Basic Life Support required. (If BLS verification is not current upon hire, must be obtained within three (3) months of hire.)
