Job Title: Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist

Job Summary:

Position summary:
The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for reviewing inpatient records for necessary documentation and query opportunities as well as concurrent coding and finalization of discharged accounts for inpatient and observation patients. This position will be responsible for completing the CDI spreadsheet and reporting to senior management. The Clinical Documentation Specialist is responsible for completing all duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Basic Qualifications: Education: High School diploma or GED equivalent required. Completed course work in medical record technology, anatomy, or physiology required. Associates or bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field preferred. Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in medical coding required. Required Licensure/Certification(s): RHIA, RHIT, RN and CDI, CDIP or CCDS credentials required (non-credentialed employee on hire must obtain required credentials within one (1) year from date of hire).
