Swing Bed
Program

RMCHCS is Proud to Announce Our
New Swing Bed Program

By Cody Begaye, Sun Correspondent

Swing Bed is a hospital-based rehabilitation service. Hospital rehab aims to improve strength, balance, medication education, wound management, and much more.

We are pleased to offer individuals recovering from illness, injury, or surgery complete rehabilitation services where these services are available close to home. Medical staff, nursing, and Physical Therapy work together to provide an environment to facilitate a successful transition home.

Rehabilitation (or acute medical rehabilitation) is a specialized healthcare program dedicated to improving, maintaining, or restoring physical strength, function, cognition, and mobility. The goal of rehabilitation is to return patients to a more independent activity level. Typically, rehabilitation helps people gain greater independence following illness, injury, or surgery.

Our hospital’s team approach is crucial to success in rehabilitation therapy. Rehabilitation works best when a diverse team of experts works together. Each brings special expertise to the table; the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. They work together to develop a treatment plan for physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. Team members include:

  • Case Manager

  • Dietary

  • Physician
  • Pharmacy

  • Rehabilitation Services

  • Respiratory Therapist

  • Activities Coordinator
  • Nurses
