Job Title: Laboratory Assistant

Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the Laboratory Director and the medical direction of the Pathologist, the Laboratory Assistant performs phlebotomy, processes clinical laboratory specimens, and performs clerical and technical duties as outlined. Performs point-of-care testing at physician clinic, as scheduled. The Laboratory Assistant provides services involving a variety of basic to difficult techniques according to established methods and policies. The Laboratory Assistant maintains records of performance as defined in the laboratory’s policy and procedure manuals. Assists in orientation/training of new staff members as necessary .The Laboratory Assistant is qualified to perform procedures, including phlebotomy on the following age classifications: neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for completing all duties as assigned.
